What you need to know when traveling for the first time to Sri Lanka?

Do I need a visa?
Citizens of Russia are required to apply for a visa to enter Sri Lanka. There are 3 ways to do this:
At the consulate. Procedure:
fill out an application for a visa;
bring 2 color photos 35 x 45 mm;
pay a fee of 30 USD;
get a stamp in your passport.
Upon arrival at the airport. Procedure:
fill in a migration card in English;
pay a visa fee of 25 USD in the window with the inscription Visa on Arrival;
with a receipt of payment, passport, return ticket and voucher from the hotel, go to passport control and get a visa stamp.
On the Internet at eta.gov.lk. Procedure:
go to eta.gov.lk and, following the prompts of the system, enter personal data;
pay a card fee of 25 USD;
10-20 minutes after sending the data, check the mail;
print out a visa.
! Children under 12 years old get a visa for free.
What to bring with you?
A large suitcase with many things should not be taken. An evening dress and stiletto heels are hardly needed. Everything you need can be bought at a reasonable price on the spot. This does not apply to drugs. To eliminate misunderstanding with the local population, it is better to assemble a first-aid kit at home.
Cotton shorts, trousers, t-shirts, sundresses, any other clothes made of natural and breathable materials to feel comfortable even in the heat. Do not forget about light shirts and tunics with long sleeves that will help to avoid sunburn.
If you plan to visit temples and other religious buildings, you will need clothing that covers your shoulders, knees, and torso.
Take hats, caps, sandals, sandals, any other light and comfortable shoes.

If you are going to the mountains
The warmth of things, since it’s quite cold at night, raincoat, rains, waterproof shoes, jeans are not excluded.

What else to take
Do not forget mosquito repellents: creams, sprays, etc. In Sri Lanka there are a lot of mosquitoes.
Tip: Do not bring along anything that you are afraid to lose. Expensive jewelry is best left at home. Take photocopies of all documents, insurance and return tickets in case of loss.
